B.Sc Nursing is one of the most popular B.Sc courses. B.Sc Nursing Admission is based on the NEET UG exam for most of the central and state universities followed by a counseling round; however, some universities like AIIMS conduct their own entrance exams for admission to B.Sc nursing courses.
B.Sc Nursing is a 4-year undergraduate course with a focus on training and skill development as mentioned in National Health Policy 2002. Students after BSc Nursing will become professional nurses capable of taking primary, secondary and tertiary care of people.
BSc Nursing Syllabus consists of subjects like Physiology, Anatomy, Excretory System, Muscular System, etc. BSc Nursing course is available in both govt and private colleges.
About the Programme
B.Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate programme focused on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery as mentioned in the National Health Policy 2002. The programme is streamlined to enable students to address the health needs of the nation, society and individuals. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities to respond to national objectives. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the programme, the students are required to undergo a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them. Candidates looking for more knowledge in the same field may pursue higher education for challenging career opportunities.
One can choose from the two-course options - BSc (Basic) and the other BSc (Post-Basic), the eligibility criteria of which are mentioned below.
- For BSc Nursing Course –Candidates should pass Class 12 in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and be medically fit.
- ForBSc (Post-Basic) – Candidates should pass Class 12 in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology). One has to get a certificate in GNM (General Nursing Midwifery) and register him/herself as an RNRM (Registered Nurse Registered Midwife) from the State Nurses Registration Council.
Notably, one has to submit proof of training by the Indian Nursing Council or equivalent in the following domain:
- OT (Operation Theatre) Techniques
- Community Health Nursing
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Ophthalmic Nursing
- Leprosy Nursing
- TB Nursing
- Neurological and Neurosurgical Nursing
- Cancer Nursing
- Orthopedic Nursing
